Job Title: Youth Symphony Conductor
The Idaho Falls Symphony Youth Orchestras (IFSYO) seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated Youth Symphony Conductor to lead our top-tier ensemble of young musicians. We are looking for an inspiring educator and skilled conductor who is passionate about developing musical excellence and fostering a positive, growth-oriented learning environment.
Compensation
$9,000 annual stipend
About the Role
The Youth Symphony Conductor oversees weekly rehearsals, bi-annual performances, auditions, and programming for the IFSYO’s most advanced ensemble. This individual plays a central role in shaping the musical experience and culture of the Youth Symphony and serves as a mentor, leader, and ambassador for the IFSYO program within the community. Qualifications and Application Procedure
The ideal candidate will have a minimum bachelor’s degree in music education or performance, demonstrated experience conducting an instrumental ensemble, and ideally a background that includes both performance on an orchestral instrument and classroom experience.
The start date coincides with the beginning of our next fiscal year: July 1st, 2026. This position reports to the Executive Director. Programming will be determined in consultation with the Education and Outreach Manager and the Music Director of the Idaho Falls Symphony.
Qualified candidates should submit a letter of interest with a vision for the upcoming season of the YS, plus a CV/resume that includes 3 professional references. Finalists for the position will be asked to conduct a rehearsal and/or submit video samples of their conducting and will be interviewed by a committee including the Education and Outreach Manager, Executive Director, and Music Director of the Idaho Falls Symphony.
