Sounds of the American West - A Symphony of Sights and Sounds
Opening Night of Thomas Heuser’s Fifteenth and Final Season!

The sublime beauty of the natural world comes vividly to life in this breathtaking season opener, where music and film unite to celebrate the landscapes we call home. This special concert marks the beginning of Music Director Thomas Heuser’s final season with the Idaho Falls Symphony—a fitting tribute to his visionary leadership and passion for artistic innovation.

Each piece on the program will be enhanced by stunning visual projections, including a specially commissioned film by award-winning journalist and filmmaker Kris Millgate of Tight Line Media. Known for her powerful storytelling and breathtaking footage of Idaho’s wild places, Millgate’s original visuals will bring the music to life in a way you've never experienced before.

Audiences will journey through the grandeur of the American West with Ferde Grofé’s iconic Grand Canyon Suite, with its cinematic depictions of Sunrise, On the Trail, and the thrilling Cloudburst. The program also features Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Jennifer Higdon’s All Things Majestic, written for the Grand Teton Music Festival, whose sweeping music evokes familiar landscapes such as the Snake River and the towering Teton Range.

This unforgettable evening of majestic sights and sounds celebrates not only the natural wonders of the West but also the extraordinary artistic legacy of Maestro Heuser. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind symphonic experience as we begin a season like no other.
