IF Symphony & EIRMC Red Dress Concert Features Movie Music
An annual Idaho Falls tradition is coming up soon: the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center Red Dress Concert is on February 15, 2020, and this year the Idaho Falls Symphony is celebrating the movie music of Danny Elfman! You may know him from his days in the 80’s band Oingo Boingo, or you may know his music from The Simpsons or Nightmare Before Christmas. The concert will celebrate Elfman’s music while raising awareness about women’s heart health.
EIRMC focuses on the message of women’s heart health because symptoms often go unnoticed; the symptoms of a heart attack are different for men and women, for example. For many years EIRMC has teamed up with the Idaho Falls Symphony to bring awareness to these symptoms, and also to urge women not to wait or put off seeing their doctor if they do suspect heart issues. “The Red Dress Concert is one of our most visible community partnerships,” said Thomas Heuser, music director of the Idaho Falls Symphony. “We appreciate this opportunity to partner with EIRMC to spread the message during our best-attended concert of each season.”
One of the most multi-faceted and distinctive composers alive today, Danny Elfman was awarded the Disney Legend Award in 2015, which truly describes Elfman: a Legend. At the Red Dress Concert, audiences will have the chance to survey his movie scores with live orchestra. Even when the images are stripped away, the music conjures up intense scenes and familiar characters, from Batman to Beetlejuice. Themes from Psycho and The Godfather will round out a diverse evening of movie and television favorites.
The Red Dress Concert will take place at the Idaho Falls Civic Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, February 15th at 7:30pm.
