The Search Series I
The Idaho Falls Symphony’s 2026–2027 season begins with Search Series I, the first concert in our Music Director Search season. This special evening introduces audiences to the first finalist candidate while celebrating two remarkable artistic voices: pioneering American composer Amy Beach and acclaimed pianist Kara Huber.
At the heart of the program is Amy Beach’s sweeping and virtuosic Piano Concerto in C-sharp Minor, a bold and richly expressive work that showcases Beach’s extraordinary musical imagination and brilliance as one of America’s first major female composers.
The concerto will be performed by GRAMMY®-nominated pianist Kara Huber, praised by New York Concert Review as “absolutely dazzling…in a word, flawless.” Huber has appeared at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and major concert stages across North America and Europe. Widely recognized for her passionate advocacy of overlooked masterworks, she has become especially celebrated for her compelling performances of Beach’s rarely heard concerto, helping bring renewed attention to this extraordinary work.
Join us for an inspiring opening to the Idaho Falls Symphony’s Music Director Search season — an evening of artistry, discovery, and exceptional music-making that marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the orchestra.
