The Idaho Falls Symphony’s 2026–2027 Music Director Search continues with Search Series II, featuring the second finalist candidate and the return of acclaimed violinist Holly Mulcahy.

The centerpiece of the evening is Stealing from Birds by American composer Dan Perttu, a contemporary violin concerto inspired by the songs and calls of birds found throughout the American West, including many familiar to the landscapes of our own region. Imaginative, colorful, and deeply evocative, the work captures the beauty, movement, and vitality of the natural world through a vibrant and accessible musical language.

Known for her passionate advocacy of contemporary American music, Mulcahy has built a national reputation for bringing audiences into the music through performances that are both compelling and deeply personal. Her return to Idaho Falls promises an evening of artistry, connection, and musical storytelling that celebrates both innovation and the natural beauty that surrounds us.
